Richard Bowden Collection of Musical Compositions and Arrangements

Richard George Bowden was born on Sept. 23, 1944 in Sydney, Australia; taught himself big band arranging by listening to records and attending concerts of visiting American bands; attended New South Wales Conservatory, and studied composition with Raymond Hanson (1966-69) and Russell Garcia (1967); became composer for films and commercials, as well as an arranger and conductor; was occasional composer, arranger, and conductor for Disney Studios; formed his own woodwind ensemble, the Windtette, performing his compositions throughout Los Angeles; instrumental works include Concert overture, Quietly blows the Don, and Whimsey; film and television scores include Happy 50th birthday Mickey Mouse, The Sweet Creek County war, Christmas carol, Heidi, The prince and the pauper, and The Swiss family Robinson; he died on Dec. 16, 1982.

Collection consists of manuscripts and/or ozalid masters and copies and printed scores for compositions and arrangements of music for orchestra, chamber groups, and jazz bands, and for television and motion picture productions.
