Jeff Alexander Television, Radio, and Motion Picture Music Collection

Alexander was a founder of the Screen Composers of America; he wrote music for more than 40 feature films, starting with Shall we dance (1937), and including The mating game, The tender trap, and Jailhouse rock; collaborated on several MGM musicals, including Gigi, Singin' in the rain, and Kismet; arranged music for verious radio programs, including The hit parade, The Camel hour, and The Lucky Strike hour; he was music director for Amos 'n' Andy and Hollywood star playhouse; composed music for television shows, including Columbo, Wagon train, and The twilight zone; died at the age of 79 on Whidbey Island, Washington, on Dec. 23, 1989.

Collection consists of holographs and/or ozalid copies of musical sketches for TV commercials, radio programs (most notably Amos and Andy); television shows (including My Three Sons, Family Affair, Greatest Show on Earth, Please Don't Eat the Daisies, Dr. Kildare, Sam Benedict, and the Rounders), and various television specials. Holographs or copies of the following motion picture scores (MGM productions unless cited otherwise): Double Trouble (1967); Dirty Dingus Magee (1970); Support Your Local Sheriff (United Artists, 1969); Partygirl (1958); The Sheepman (1958); Ask any Girl (1959); Day of the Evil Gun (1968); Slander (1956); It Started with a Kiss (1959); All the Fine Young Cannibals (1960); The Gazebo (1959); These Wilder Years (1959); Men of the Fighting Lady (1954); Rogue Cop (1954); Ransom (1956); Gun Glory (1957); The Mating Game (1959); High Cost of Loving (1958); Great American Pastime (1956); The Tender Trap (1955); Saddle the Wind (1958); Wings of Eagles (1957); Kismet (1944); Kid Galahad (United Artists, 1962); The George Raft Story (Allied Artists, 1961); Clambake (United Artists, 1967); also includes some choir arrangements. Also additional manuscript scores, framed tributes, awards, letters of recognition, photographs with personalities, drawings, and sound recordings.
