Otto Hirschler Collection of Correspondence, Programs and Papers
Otto Theophilius Hirschler was born on Dec. 16, 1889 in Hillsboro, Kan.; attended Bethel College (1907-8), Pomona College (1911-14), Los Angeles Conservatory of Music (1914-15), and the American Conservatory of Music, Chicago, where he received his B.A. in 1917, along with the Conservatory's gold medal; professor of music at Albion College (1916-17) and at Coe College (1917-19); moved to L.A. in 1919, where he was organist and usually choir director and/or director of music in many churches; he taught organ, piano, and voice privately, as well as teaching at the Bible Institute of L.A. (BIOLA), California Christian College, and Pepperdine College.
Collection consists of scrapbook of letters, programs, clippings and other documents relating to Hirschler's composing career; loose documents, including Hirschler's resume, biography and obituary; and medal from the American Conservatory of Music, Chicago.
