Call for 2005 LAUC-LA Librarian of the Year Nominations

The Librarians’ Association of the University of California, Los Angeles (LAUC-LA) invites nominations from UCLA faculty, staff, and students for its 2005 Librarian of the Year award.  The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 8, 2005, at 5:00 p.m.

This award recognizes excellence in librarianship, particularly as it enhances library service and furthers the teaching and research mission of UCLA. Candidates should be nominated for a specific contribution made during the last twelve to eighteen months, rather than for overall career achievement.  All UCLA librarians employed 50% time or more are eligible to be nominated.

Nominated candidates will be judged on contributions made to the UCLA Library's overall mission of helping to meet the intellectual, informational, and cultural needs of the university community.  The chosen candidate will also embody one or more of the following: creativity, innovation, courage, leadership, and scholarly abilities.

To submit a nomination, go http://www2.library.ucla.edu/loty/  where there are further details and forms available online.  Or, e-mail your letter to Rhonda Lawrence at lawrence@law.ucla.edu and indicate “Confidential” in the subject line.  Include in the letter the nominee's name, the library where he/she works, and a description of how the nominee meets the above criteria.  Nominations and supporting materials will be kept strictly confidential.  If you have questions, please e-mail Rhonda K. Lawrence at the address above, or call (310) 794-5390.

LAUC is the University of California's primary organization for professional librarian and governance affairs.
