The New Horizons in Scholarly Communication web page (URL: http://libweb.ucsc.edu/scomm/) has been created to demonstrate the types of material that could be made available to librarians and scholars both at U.C. and around the world. As described in the LAUC Electronic Information and Scholarly Communications Ad Hoc Committee Interim Report of June, 1995, this Web development is aimed at building alliances among various interested parties.

Because of the continually changing nature of any Web site, this charge is purposefully broad. Among the issues to be considered by this committee are the following:

1. Continue to organize and maintain the site.
2. Promote awareness of the site.
3. Develop an editorial policy that includes issues such as copyright and soliciting and mounting original content.

There is a new feature making it possible for board members to add, delete and edit records listed in the New Horizons pages directly via the Web.

There has been no other activity since the Spring 1998 Report.
