Part I:

Presentation on the new features and components in Office XP continued

Leslie Mc Michael (Presenter)

Continuing from Jan. 10th and this time with the benefit of the correct software on the classroom PC, Leslie Mc Michael, LIS Administrative Specialist, pointed out more highlights and answered a number of questions. She also provided copies of the revised 28-page handout What’s New in Office XP. Jean Rashedi has the copies.

Leslie demonstrated how to eliminate autocorrect options and annoying icons such as the lightening bolt, but warned that it’s all or nothing. Go into Tools, select Autocorrect Options and click off everything. Whether to keep or delete these options boils down to individual tastes.

The demonstration of “Office Clipboard” task pane was helpful. Clipboard retains a list of up to 24 items and enables you to paste them onto other documents.

Those who had problems with the Global Template were shown a fix.

The “Mail To” link is not working.

Hot links are to Internet Explorer, not Netscape.

Use Windows NT Explorer to perform maintenance on your Word files.

The best approach is to keep working with Word and the guide. If anyone has further questions or problems, Leslie can be reached at x69774.

Part II:

Announcements

John reminded everyone that Friday, Jan. 25th is the deadline of suggestions for what components we think the ORION3 vendors might demonstrate. John will take our suggestions to ACCM.
