College of Physicians of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
2011 Annual Meeting
Archivists and Librarians in the History of the Health Sciences (ALHHS) and
Medical Museums Association (MeMA)
Welcome
Dear Archivists and Librarians,
The 2011 ALHHS meeting will be held, in conjunction with the
Medical Museums Association (MeMA),
at the
College of Physicians of Philadelphia
on Thursday, 28 April 2011. The
program will include invited local speakers plus a chance for members
to make brief reports about their projects back home. There will also
be tours of the College and the Mütter Museum. Registration for the
meeting will cost $40, which will include breakfast and lunch at the
College.
The Wednesday night banquet (and the Steering Committee meeting) will
be held at the Chemical Heritage Foundation.
Hosted by Ronald Brashear, the Arnold Thackray Director of the Othmer
Library and Director of the Beckman Center, the banquet will give
ALHHS members a chance to see CHF's beautiful facility and have a
magnificent dinner. Cost of the banquet will be $50, including wine
and beer.
Our headquarters hotel will be the Sheraton Society Hill. For
reservations, refer to our
Accommodations/Hotel reservations page
(which includes alternatives),
or go to the American Association for the
History of Medicine website. As the hotel is not
particularly close to the College of Physicians, bus service will be
provided between the hotel and the College.
Look for all additional information in the current issue of the
Watermark:
Charles Greifenstein's "Information about Philadelphia", Ronald Brashear's
illustrated profile of the Chemical Heritage Center, and Robert Hicks' illustrated profile
of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
Thanks to Elaine Challacombe (Program Committee chair) and Charlie Greifenstein
(Local Arrangements Committee chair),Russell Johnson (Website administrator),
Arlene Shaner (Treasurer), and all their various
helpers.
Hope to see you all in Philly!
